Maccabi Netanya football club constitutes the flag ship of the city of Netanya in local sport. The club has significant history and tradition in soccer and had won in previous years 5 championship titles and one nation championship cup. Many generations of soccer players were raised in this club and will be forever remembered as the best football players in Israel and outside it. During the 1982 – 1983 season, the club had won its last championship and hasn't won a significant title since than and also knew instability in the major league.

During the year 2006, a Jewish man by the name of Daniel Jammer immigrated to Israel from Germany out of strong Zionist bond. In the summer of 2006 Mr. Jammer purchased Maccabi Netanya football club and announced that his goal in acquiring the club is to "wake the giant out of his sleep". Since than the sports fans and the residents of Netanya became more and more aware of the team. Mr. Jammer invested a lot of money for the creation of a very strong team of players in the major league and for the rehabilitation of the youth department which was very weak, dismantled and didn't know many achievements. In the end of Mr. Jammer's premier season, the senior team finished the league in the second place and reached a UEFA Cup ticket, and the u-16 team had won the state cup.

Together with Mr. Jammer working as directors in the club: president and legal counsel advocate Gil Lev, management member Kobi Beladev, press officer and chairman of the youth department Itsik Genish.

The new stadium

Maccabi Netanya is set to unveil the new city stadium in the upcoming 2008-2009 games season in a total coast of 35 million $.

According to the Netanya city hall plans, the total area of the stadium will be 163 acres and will include spaces for employment.

At the first stage, 12,000 seats will be allocated in the stadium, and in the final stages of construction there will be 20,000 seats and it will be built according to international game hosting standards.

As previously said, Maccabi Netanya football club is due to relocate in the end of 2008 to the city stadium which will be located at the south side. By than with the completion of the stadium's construction, the club won't have a true home as it is accustomed in other clubs and also an organized training complex for the youth and kids division.
